Every Girl is Some Man’s Daughter

Posted on Updated on

I read this awe-inspiring, genuinely beautiful post a few months back, only to read it again today and realize how amazing it is to have a father figure who not only respects all women but is also a true inspiration. Robert, one of my most treasured readers, thank you for this..thank you for being you!

Sol Invictus

I love my little girl.  I still call her “Little Girl.”  She’s now 14, as tall as her mother, and full of aspirations, new feelings, and visions of a coming future.

Summer

I remember when I first learned that my wife was pregnant.  I was stunned, scared, and in denial.  I could think of no way that this would work.  I was selfish, and still very much a boy (no matter what my biological age was then).  Never having had a father figure of any kind, I just couldn’t conceive that I could manage.  I was worried.  I didn’t know what to do.

The only experience I had with fathering was being the stepfather to my wife’s son.  He turned out to be a fine young man (that’s for another post), despite my attempts at fathering.

I remember when I learned that this new baby was going to be a girl.  I can…

One thing a parent isn’t prepared for–you’re a parent for life. You still remember the soft face sleeping in your arms as the child standing before you, no matter what his or her age. When he tells you where to go stuff your child-rearing advice, you still want to point to the door and say, “Go to your room,” when he’s 40. 🙂

      Dear Floridaborne,

I like your comment. I still see my little girl, as my not-so-little girl, standing in front of me, asks for the keys to the car :-).

      All good wishes,

    Dear Himani,

I’m glad to know that you found value in this post. She is the world to me. Summer and I just returned from seeing together the movie, “Frozen.” What a nice film.

    All good wishes,

      Dear Robert,

Thats so lovely to hear, thank you for sharing! 🙂 I’m sure Summer feels as blessed to have you as her father, please keep doing what you are doing! One of the biggest reasons why it moved me so is because thats how my own dad is like – very respectful towards women, supportive, kind and loving towards me and my two younger siblings. Its such a blessing to have that kind of fatherly figure, so grateful for so much.

May the Divine bless us all in Love and Light and keep us close 🙂

Best wishes to you and Summer, always!
