aurora borealis
look up
the magical show starts again
this arctic winter, to brighten my nights
a blazing flare somewhere
dazzling, colorful lights here
painting beautifully
a vivid december sky
I run across the snow desert
stand in an open space
surrendered to the alchemy
of beauty and brilliance
seducing the night
from the spectrum of my thoughts
to the lining of feelings
against the backdrop of amorous stars
reflecting off that glowing canvas, I see
every burning desire, dream and longing
…..
inspired from the fascinating show of northern lights I saw with my lil brother this morning =)

Gorgeous to the point of tears. Since the first grade in school and a huge poster of the Northern Lights stretched from wall to wall above the chalk board, I have dreamed of seeing them. Now, at 72, I face the realization that I may never get to experience them as you and your brother did. Thank you for the next best thing — your poetry and the majestic display in the photo!
Thanks also for visiting my blog:

That must have been a spiritual experience Himani. Looks like you guys were well prepared for this event. Did you have to wait long?
I am waiting for my chance to see Aurora Australis. *sigh* Hopefully I will. My only interaction so far has been with planters and stars and that too only because I study the night sky as a hobby. And believe me, the summer has been a winter here this time, and I have not been able to study the sky for about 5 months now which is disappointing really.

it sure was, Rex..hoping to see more of this 🙂 its beauty really stirs the soul. we weren’t prepared at all lol my brother woke me up at around 5ish with the words “maaanii..wake up! northern lights!” and I just put on my jacket and ran outside with him in my pajamas 😛 we saw something very similar, with hues of red in there too but didn’t grab the camera..sorry if I disappointed you. Hope you get to study the night sky like you wish and the weather changes in your favour. perhaps it will, give it some time. thanks for dropping by 🙂
